Abbe Luersman joined Otis Worldwide Corporation in July 2021 as Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer. Otis is the world’s leading elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation and service company. Otis moves 2 billion people a day and maintains more than 2 million customer units worldwide, the industry’s largest Service portfolio. Headquartered in Connecticut, USA, Otis is 69,000 people strong, including 40,000 field professionals, all committed to meeting the diverse needs of Otis’ customers and passengers in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Otis was founded 170 years ago and is now circa $13 billion in revenue / $35B in market cap. Abbe couldn’t be more excited to be part of the company as they are transforming post their spin-off from UTC.
Prior to Otis, Abbe was the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for Royal Ahold Delhaize based out of Zaandam, The Netherlands, beginning July 2016. Ahold Delhaize is an international retailing group with strong local consumer brands in Europe and the United States with €75bn in revenue, 414,000 associates and serving over 50 million customers weekly. Abbe was a member of the Ahold Delhaize Executive Committee responsible for the global Human Resources function. Primary area of focus: development and delivery of the people strategy – inclusive of: Talent & Diversity, Learning & Development, Organizational Effectiveness & Development and Total Rewards.
Prior to Ahold Delhaize, Abbe was the CHRO for Ahold for 4 years and prior to this, spent 6.5 years with Unilever where she held two distinct roles, SVP Unilever Europe + SVP HR Transformation & Strategy. Prior to Unilever, Abbe spent 16.5 years at Whirlpool Corporation where she held various roles with increasing leadership accountability.
Abbe sits on the Supervisory Board of Directors for Just Eat TakeAway, as well as the Board of Directors for CAROO. She is Co-Chair and on the Board of Directors for Gartner’s CHRO Global Leadership Board. She is a member of the Cornell University Advisory Board and is past Chair and Officer and on the Board of Directors for NextUp.
Abbe has a Bachelor & Masters of Art in Human & Organizational Development, from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Abbe is married to her husband, Paul, and they have a daughter named Emma.
