The ancient Japanese art of Taiko drumming has been off limits to women for centuries. Master Taiko drummers Jennifer Weir and Megan Chao Smithof TaikoArts Midwest gathered a group of women drummers from all over the world, including master taiko drummer Tiffany Tamaribuchi, for a bold concert, captured in the documentary Finding Her Beat. Filmmakers Dawn Mikkelson and Keri Pickett join Jen, Megan, and Tiffany to talk about the gifts and challenges of collaborating with unicorns – women who’ve made it to the top of a male dominated field.
