How did you first hear about NEW, and what prompted you to join?

I joined my friend, Staci Walsh, at a NEW event at the female-owned brewery, Urban Growler, in the Twin Cities where we discussed how men can show up to be allies for women in the workplace. I loved the vulnerable and real conversations we were able to have in my group. That event was the catalyst for joining NEW Twin Cities.

How has NEW impacted your personal/professional life?

NEW has reinvigorated my passion to help empower myself and other women inside and outside of work. The support of the other women allows me to walk into any room with more self-confidence than I had before I joined. The women are all there to help each other grow and I try to carry that into my job and into my personal life.

Tell us about a recent personal accomplishment or event in your life. I was able to move into a new role into Human Resources from Supply Chain at the end of last year. I am really grateful and excited for the opportunity to learn about Human Resources and focus on my passion for people!

What is your favorite NEW event you’ve attended?

Luna Fest is my favorite event that I have been to so far. It was amazing to watch the female filmmakers show us how they see the world for a different point of view. Then we had time to connect with the other women watching the films and talk about how powerful they were to watch. It was powerful to recognize the struggles for women and provide support to each other.

What other activities, aside from being an amazing member of NEW, do you enjoy in your free time?

My activities really range all over the board. I am a big runner so when it’s warm out I love to get outside and run. My fiancé and I also love to take our kayak out on the lake by our house. We are also big travelers and I love crossing new places off of our bucket list.

Lightning round questions!

Nickname your parents used to call you? Pumpkin girl. Honestly not really sure how that one got started, but it stuck for a while when I was younger.

You get one superpower, but you must choose between invisibility and flight. Which do you pick?  Flight! Hands down. I would love the ability to fly to my friends and family quickly or to be able to fly around the world for free without waiting at the airport or waiting at customs. That’s the dream.

Last Halloween costume? I went as Joyce Byers from Stranger Things and my fiancé went as the wall with Christmas lights from Season 1 of Stranger Things. It was pretty cool!

Favorite word? I’ve never thought about this, but adventure is the first word that comes to mind. The word makes it feels like the possibilities are endless.

What food could you eat for a week straight for every meal? Normally I’d say I could eat mac and cheese every day, but every day for every meal is pretty intense.  Sushi is going to be my answer! You can make a bunch of different types so it would never taste the same. Variety would be key for 21 straight meals!

Finally, any funny stories about your time with NEW?

We hosted a Holiday party in December and I had a good time laughing about all of the different holiday sweaters that were out in the audience! Some of them were punny, some had lights and some definitely looked passed down!
