Member Spotlight – Johanna Oseland, NEW Idaho

Name: Johanna Oseland, Senior Consultant, TokuSaku Consulting

How did you first hear about NEW, and what prompted you to join?

I was exposed to PNW NEW when I was with a large Seattle company, but not until I moved to Idaho did I become vested in NEW to help make a difference for women in Idaho.

How has NEW impacted your personal/professional life?

There is so much great content shared within the past year across all of the NEW events that it has allowed me to both learn and share the resources with others.

Tell us about a recent personal accomplishment or event in your life.

My friends and family love the outdoors, it can be winter sports (skiing, touring, xc skiing, snowmobiling or snow shoeing) or summer sports (mtn biking, road biking, hiking and boating) but over the past few years I have been increasingly limping through these activities.  No longer is this the case, I am back to all the sports after my full knee replacement.  Thank goodness to my family and friends that have been supportive and there for me, as we get back to the outdoors we all love together.

What is your favorite NEW event you’ve attended?

I feel all the events pulled together and that I have attended are fabulous.  But what I really enjoy is working with all the amazing women within our Idaho Board and the subteam with our program’s committee.  A shout out to Kristina, Lacey, Kathryn and Jennifer!

Lightning round questions!

Nickname your parents used to call you?

No nickname, but my little sister couldn’t say my full name “Jo – hanna” so she just called me “Hanna”. When I introduce myself, I sometimes say my name is “Yo” hanna so the pronunciation is correct.

You get one superpower, but you must choose between invisibility and flight. Which do you pick?

Invisibility – I do not like to draw attention to myself.  I like to ensure that credit is given where it is do within a team.

What food could you eat for a week straight for every meal?

Carrots: roasted, pureed, shredded, raw, steamed, with lots of different spices.
