Welcome to Advocacy in Action! Over the next six weeks, you’ll focus on actionable steps in workplace advocacy and allyship. Emphasizing the crucial role of emotional intelligence and personal motivation, you’ll actively participate in thought-provoking exercises, gain data-driven insights, and engage in collaborative discussions shaping perceptions, guiding choices, and fostering meaningful relationships within your teams and organizations.

Making the Most of Your Advocacy in Action Experience  

To ensure you get the most out of your Advocacy in Actionexperience, here’s an overview of how to maximize your participation and learning: 

Commit to Your Learning 

  • Allocate 30-60 minutes each week for engaging with the NovoEd platform. 
  • Participate in the weekly 60-minute live (Zoom) sessions. 

Be Engaged

  • Participate actively in both the weekly Action Planning activities and the Interactive Exercises during live sessions. Your active engagement enriches the learning experience. 

Commit to Action

  • Apply what you learn in your day-to-day life, both personally and professionally. Seek opportunities to practice and model allyship.

Important Dates

Leading up to the October 2nd session, you will receive a series of emails with information on:

  • September 18, September 25 or September 30: You’ll receive an email from noreply@mhs.com with a link to take the EQ-i 2.0 assessment.
  • September 18 or September 30: You’ll receive your login information to the digital program platform (NovoEd).
  • September 30: Email from noreply@mhs.com with your *EQ-i 2.0 assessment report.
    • *You will need to bring your report with you each week to the Program KickoffAdvocacy Lab, and EQ Deep Dive sessions.

Virtual Advocacy Lab Schedule

After each On-Demand module, join us weekly for the Advocacy Lab, a 60-minute (Zoom) session. Below are the dates and times for each meeting. These sessions are highly interactive, and your attendance is strongly advised. We understand instances may arise, but missing a session could impact your overall experience, and your perspective will be missed by your peers. Due to the nature and sensitivity of the discussions, these sessions will not be recorded.

Advocacy Lab

A progressive series of 60-minute weekly (Zoom) sessions dedicated to advancing workplace equity. Engage in interactive breakout sessions discussing key elements in workplace advocacy and allyship. Chart an action-oriented path and cultivate holistic growth on a transformative journey of empowerment, self-discovery, networking, and accountability.

  • Advocacy Lab: Awareness 
    • Explore and enhance awareness within the context of workplace allyship and advocacy. 
    • Engage in discussions, exercises, and scenarios to build a foundational understanding. 
  • Advocacy Lab: Choice 
    • Focus on making informed choices in workplace situations. 
    • Participate in interactive activities to develop decision-making skills. 
  • Advocacy Lab: Motivation 
    • Dive into the motivations behind workplace allyship and advocacy. 
    • Reflect on personal motivations and how they drive our efforts. 
  • Advocacy Lab: Empathy 
    • Emphasize the role of empathy in effective allyship and advocacy. 
    • Explore ways to cultivate and apply empathy in workplace scenarios. 
  • Advocacy Lab: Skills 
    • Focus on cultivating practical skills for impactful actions. 
    • Engage in hands-on exercises designed to enhance skills relevant to promoting equity in the workplace and reinforcing positive outcomes within the organization. 
    • Emphasizing our commitment to empowering participants with actionable tools and insights for effective advocacy actions. 
  • Bonus session- EQ Deep Dive: 
    • Enjoy an (optional) bonus group coaching session led by a certified emotional intelligence coach, focusing on how to use emotional intelligence to become more effective. 
    • Make instant connections between EQ subscales and learn how to leverage EQ strengths while improving EQ weaknesses. 
    • Come prepared with your questions and your EQ-i 2.0 report for a deep dive into enhancing your emotional intelligence. 

EQ-I 2.0 Assessment

You’ll receive an EQ-I 2.0 assessment to evaluate five composite areas that measure distinct aspects of your emotional and social functioning, contributing to your overall emotional intelligence. Gain a deep understanding of how your assessment results impact your workplace performance, including areas like conflict resolution, change management, teamwork, and decision-making. Your custom report will provide clear instructions, interpretation guidelines, and results-driven content, setting you up for success in your advocacy journey.
